The result of this research to some extend can serve as a guideline for the future practice of legal translation. Faithfulness and accuracy are of the primary consideration for the translators of such texts to avoid any ambiguous interpretations, especially of those technical terms and key words that have their strict legal or particular meanings in a contract. To ensure the interests of the parties concerned, the original meaning must be understood fully by the translator who then expresses it smoothly in the target language in conformity with the norms of Chinese legal documents. Being a so-called “frozen style” which is the most formal style, the words and expressions in a legal document cannot be translated freely.
